Climate change and the Common Fisheries Policy: adaptation and building resilience to the effects of climate change on fisheries and reducing emissions of greenhouse gases from fishing

By 31 December 2022 the European Commission will prepare a report on the functioning of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). The report will take stock of the implementation of the CFP (mostly of its fisheries management aspects, including the external dimension), as well as assess whether climate change adaptation and mitigation, social dimension and clean oceans are sufficiently address by the current policy framework. The purpose of this work is to provide the Commission with a technical background for that report in respect of issues related to climate change.
